As in most other Thai tourist destinations, Phuket features outstanding shopping opportunities, from street markets to shopping malls, and visitors can buy souvenir products from all over Thailand, such as Thai silk and chopstick sets, or essential beach supplies, such as swimwear, sun block, and children’s beach toys. Locally produced handicrafts that are popular with visitors to Phuket include cultured pearls, neilloware, pewterware, and dried seafood. Specialist shops dealing in souvenir products can be found in and around Phuket Town and at the more popular beaches of Patong, Kata, Karon, and Rawai. There are various other shopping districts in isolated inland areas of Phuket as well.

Location : Sai Kor Rd., Patong Beach

Banzaan Market (‘banzaan’ means 'fresh market' in Hokkien) is very clean and bright, it might lack a bit of the local feel you get in other fresh markets on the island, but foods on display is of very good quality and offers a wider variety as well. A good way to start on the first days and try to get to a real local one later.

Set around the village's pleasant courtyard are more than 30 shops offering a range of products and services from carefully crafted antiques to designer clothing; from film processing to currency exchange. One can easily while away a good part of an afternoon lounging in one of the cafes, or just strolling along the covered walkways to marvel at the fine window displays.

Location : Vichitsongkram Rd., Mueang District

This new luxury shopping mall is on the outskirts of Phuket Town at the junction between Wichitsongkram Road and Chalermprakiat Road (Bypass Road). Boasting over 250 shops and more than 50 restaurants, it has just about everything you could want under one roof. There is a big department store, a supermarket, food hall and a fantastic variety of shops. Most of the shops are chains selling genuine designer goods. The prices are therefore higher than other shopping malls but still better than you will find in western countries for the same goods.

Location : In Phuket Town on Ranong Rd.

The oldest market in Phuket is located in Phuket Town on Ranong Road. It’s one of the best fresh fruit and vegetable markets and opens extremely early in the morning between 3am and 9am so you need to be early if you want to visit. The very freshest foods are sold here and come direct from the local farms, so many Phuket restaurants shop at this time to get the best produce. There’s a small extension to the market on the other side of the road selling fresh fruit and vegetables throughout the day.

    <table class="info-contact" style="margin: 15px 0px; padding: 0px; clear: both; width: 730px;"><tbody style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><tr style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><th style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; width: 120px; text-align: left; vertical-align: top;">Opening Hours</th><td style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Daily from 03:00 am. - 09:00 am.</td></tr><tr style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><th style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; width: 120px; text-align: left; vertical-align: top;">Contact</th><td style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Tel. 0 7627 1241</td></tr></tbody></table><hr class="dashedline" style="margin: 15px 0px; padding: 0px; clear: both; border: 1px dashed rgb(204, 204, 204);"> Expo Fashion Market

Location : Tilok Uthit 2 Road near the Thavorn Grand Hotel

This indoor clothes and accessories market is on Tilok Uthit 2 Road near the Thavorn Grand Hotel in Phuket Town. It is one of the best places to get good deals on clothes. On the road outside are more shops selling more clothes and household products. It is open seven days a week.

    <hr class="dashedline" style="margin: 15px 0px; padding: 0px; clear: both; border: 1px dashed rgb(204, 204, 204);"> Jung Ceylon Shopping Mall

Location : Rat-u-thit 200 Years Rd., Patong Beach

This major new development in Patong is now fully open. Business disputes delayed development by over a year but it opened in 2007. There is plenty of parking underneath but not surprisingly they have started charging to stop people from using it as a parking base for their night out down Bangla Road. A shopping receipt from one of the major outlets will get 3-hours of free parking and only a small charge for staying beyond the allotted time. This mall will certainly have a significant impact on the shopping scene in Patong. The beachside stalls selling their vastly overpriced trinkets and fakes will take a big hit. In the long run this can only be a good thing for visitors to Patong who have been overcharged for their shopping for far too long. How to get there: Right on famous lively Patong Beach, the prettiest beach in Phuket. Or t’s on the corner of Bangla Road and Rat-u-thit 200 Years Road (Patong Soi 2), the busiest spot on Patong Beach

Location : Patak Rd., Karon Beach

With a wide range of souvenirs, clothing and Thai handicrafts, the Karon Plaza on the Karon beach front will not disappoint. Open until late in the evening, the undercover market is laid out over a large area with many stalls to delve into and explore. The market has everything you will need for a beach holiday with sarongs, bikinis, sun dresses, shorts, T-shirts and sunglasses. To add a touch of Thai to your home there are plenty of trinkets, silk cushion covers, table runners and novelty items. It is recommended you haggle for a good price as few vendors display pricing.

Visitors of this market will find all sorts of items, such as clothing, shoes, accessories, home decorative items, flowers, fresh and preserved food items. It is very popular among both local teenagers and foreign visitors. The market is open on Saturdays and Sundays from around 06.00 p.m. onwards.

    How to get there
    If heading to Central Festival along the bypass road, go straight past Central and take the first left. Then just follow the road down until you see the weekend market on the right.<table class="info-contact" style="margin: 15px 0px; padding: 0px; clear: both; width: 730px;"><tbody style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><tr style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><th style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; width: 120px; text-align: left; vertical-align: top;">Opening Hours</th><td style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Sat – Sun 06:00 pm. - 10:00 pm.</td></tr></tbody></table><hr class="dashedline" style="margin: 15px 0px; padding: 0px; clear: both; border: 1px dashed rgb(204, 204, 204);"> Ocean Shopping Mall

Location : Tilok-U-Thit Rd., Mueang District

In Phuket Town, almost next door to Robinsons on Tilok Uthit 1 Road is Ocean Shopping Mall. This is a down-market shopping mall where you can find some good quality goods at very reasonable prices. It contains mostly clothing stores but you can also find CDs, souvenirs, toys, telephones and more.

Location : Patong Hill on the Bypass Rd., Thalang District

Premium Outlet Phuket is the first modern and the largest architecturally of a shopping mall in Tambon Thalang on the Bypass Road (Chalemprakiat Road) near the junction with Thepkrassatri Road. It is combination of modern design, used to underscore a traditional theme. It is an area of clothes and accesory shops selling genuine designer goods that are either out of season or have minor flaws. The merchandise is still good quality and is sold at significant discount, with over 300 retail outlets within the complex and has over 500 parking spaces. Premium Outlet Phuket isn’t all about bargain clothes though, it is also a great place to buy leather goods, house ware, home furnishings, gits and toys as well as computer equipment and audio visual items. You will find the special price product up to 80% off everyday.

Location : Thepkasatree Rd., Phuket Town

Super Cheap is not your everyday super shop... it is a humongous overgrown gigantic monster warehouse selling every possible item you would find in a fresh market, a bazaar, pharmacy, stationary and a construction storehouse. It is a labyrinth of 'everything you need to live and open a local business'. It probably would never pass any international construction standards. The main area appears quite 'normal', with very high ceilings and concrete pillars, and from there it seems to have grown in any and all direction according to the need of the moment.

    Location : Phuket Town

During the nineteenth century, the beginning of the tin boom led to creation of many nice mansions and shops which are still well preserved. The typical architectural style of the region is described as Sino-Portuguese and has mainly a Mediterranean character. The shops fronts facing the street are very narrow, but stretch back a long way in. Several shops have old wooden doors with Chinese fretwork carvings, especially along the Dibuk Road. Walking tours in this area which is called Old Phuket are easy to find and very pleasant. Other streets with similar structures are Phang-nga, Yaowarat, Thalang, and Krabi.

    How to get there
